COVID-19 Information Parent and Student Resources, Meal Services, and Distance Learning Information

Dear High Tech High Families,

In a previous email we outlined HTH's plan for implementing distance learning in the event we did not reopen schools on April 7th.   We have officially decided that we follow suit and will not return for in person instruction on April 7th.

When HTH teachers return on April 6th, they will spend that week designing and piloting plans for distance learning.  We will be reaching out for your thoughts and feedback as we do this work.

We will roll out our approach to distance learning the week of April 13th and you will receive detailed information from your child’s teachers about what to expect going forward.  We are asking teachers to plan for their first distance learning module from April 13th - May 8th. Our hope is that by that time, we may be able to return to school, but if that is not the case, we will begin a second module that will run until the end of the year.

Estimadas HTH familias,

We are delighted that you are visiting our website and hope you find answers to all your admissions questions. We are here to help you through the admission process. After familiarizing yourself with how your family can join our community, we invite you to explore other areas of the High Tech High website to discover more about our K-12 schools.

High Tech High schools strive to accommodate all students who apply for admission. However, because applications for admission exceed the number of spaces available, HTH uses a zip-code based computerized lottery to determine admission. Spaces are allocated to form a student body that reflects the demographics of the region in which the school is located.

How to Apply

1. Application

Complete an online application for admission between October 1, 2019 and February 7, 2020 in order to be entered into the lottery for admission. High Tech High schools conduct our admissions process through School Mint. School Mint is accessible here or via the School Mint app available at the Apple Store / iOS or Google Play / Android. Once you apply, you will receive email confirmation that your application has successfully been submitted. Please be sure to save this confirmation email for your personal records. You can also log in to your account at any time to check on the status of your application. If you prefer to use a paper application, please visit one of our schools to pick one up from the HTH Admissions Office.

PLEASE NOTE: If you are applying for Kindergarten, your child must turn 5 years old on or before September 1st (EC Section 48000[a]) in order to apply for Kindergarten. We will not make any exceptions to this rule.

2. Submit Verification (If Applicable)

Siblings

Siblings of current HTH students are given a preference in the lottery. We require verification of sibling status. If you have a current HTH student, please log onto your Powerschool parent portal to access the sibling verification form underneath ‘e-collect forms‘ (form will be available on Friday 10/11).

National School Lunch Program

If you indicated on your student’s application that they qualify for free/reduced lunch, you will need to email an approval letter from your school district as verification of their eligibility. All school lunch verification should be emailed to admissions@hightechhigh.org.

3. Attend a Tour and/or Information Session (Optional)

Tours are optional, but we highly encourage you and your family to attend a tour or come to an informational meeting. The best way to learn about HTH and see if it is a good option for your child is to see them in person.

IMPORTANT: School tours are only offered during our Admissions Period which runs from October 1, 2019 to February 7, 2020. Admissions tours are offered twice a month at each site starting October 1st until the end of February 2020. We will not be offering tours once they end in February, no exceptions will be made (including for families offered Admission during or after our lottery in March). To register for a tour please visit  our tours webpage.
