Dear High Tech High Families and Community,
We hope this message finds you well. We’re writing to provide you with the latest developments in the ongoing negotiations between High Tech High (HTH) and the High Tech Education Collective (HTEC) regarding a collective bargaining agreement (CBA) for our classified staff members, who reflect various support positions throughout our system. The bargaining teams most recently met on April 19, 2024.
Progress in Negotiations:
HTEC has reviewed and responded with a counter to HTH’s complete package of articles. These are subjects that need to be bargained and range from wages, benefits, and hours, to discipline, leaves, and negotiation procedures. Notably, in the first year of HTH’s proposal, hourly employees would see wage increases ranging from 7.4% to 16.6%, depending on placement on our salary framework. In the second year, classified employees would see a 7.14% wage increase. In the third year of this agreement, in 2025-26, employees would see a 6.67% increase.
Next Steps:
We are scheduling our next meeting to continue these discussions and finalize the remaining items. We are optimistic about concluding these negotiations positively and promptly.
Our Commitment Remains Strong:
Throughout this process, our priorities have been clear: to value our employees, ensure financial sustainability, support our students’ learning, and maintain a collaborative spirit in all our negotiations. We are committed to keeping you informed and promise to share significant updates as we progress.
The negotiation teams have been working diligently and cooperatively, reflecting our mutual commitment to reach a fair and sustainable agreement. These discussions underscore our shared dedication to our staff and students.
Thank you for your continued support and understanding. Your trust and involvement are vital as we work together to create our students’ best possible learning environment.
Warm regards,
Board Chair Gary E. Jacobs
Interim Chief Executive Officer Dr. Diana Cornejo-Sanchez
