Dear High Tech High Families and Community,
High Tech High (HTH) and the High Tech Education Collective (HTEC) are actively engaged in initial collective bargaining discussions with the classified unit members. We’ve had three sessions thus far, most recently on August 9 and August 31, to negotiate a collective bargaining agreement (CBA) for HTEC’s classified unit. The conversations have been collaborative while building from our common interests and with the intent to reach an agreement as soon as possible.
We look forward to making further progress and we will continue to provide regular updates to our community.
Warm regards,
Board Chair Gary E. Jacobs
Interim Chief Executive Officer Dr. Kaleb Rashad
Background:
Foundation for a New Agreement
Bargaining a CBA with classified employees, who reflect various support positions throughout our system, is brand new to HTH. Subjects that need to be bargained range from wages, benefits, and hours to discipline, leaves, and negotiation procedures. HTH has 12 such subjects identified as initial contract proposals that were recently “sunshined,” or made public at an HTH Board meeting. Our work follows a bargaining agreement negotiated with HTEC for our teachers.
Our Goals
Our goals in bargaining are to ensure our employees are valued and appreciated, that we have a sustainable financial model, and that we work together to support the learning and growth of all students. We remain committed to a collaborative problem-solving process to reach an agreement.
