Mandy is happy to be teaching 2nd grade for the 2022-2023 school year! Last year was her first year at High Tech, but she is not new to teaching. She taught 4th grade before moving back to 2nd grade. Before moving from Los Angeles to San Diego in 2018, Mandy taught 2nd grade in the Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District where she had been teaching for 15 years. Mandy is a California native and loves the beach. She has a BA in Psychology from UCLA. After working as an Art Director in the field of advertising, she switched careers and got her teaching credential and a Master’s degree in technology-based education. She is thrilled to be a part of an amazing learning community that works closely with students and their families. She strives to instill a love of learning through projects and authentic, student-centered learning experiences.
When she is not teaching, Mandy loves traveling the world with her family, walking at the beach, and trying new restaurants. She enjoys spending time with her husband, her two teenage kids, and her dogs Lucy, a black Labrador and Nigel, an energetic Corgi. Mandy also loves gardening and designing with succulents. She does a lot of charity work and serves as a board member for two organizations including the National Charity League (NCL), Poway Chapter and a local non-profit called My Girlfriend’s Closet.
