Hi! My name is Taya, but my students call me “Ms. Chase”. I grew up among the redwood trees in Humboldt County, northern California. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice with a minor in Art from San Diego State University in 2011. After working in the San Diego Superior Courts for several years, I decided to pursue a Teaching Credential in Mathematics from SDSU.
I joined the High Tech High community as a 9th grade math teacher in 2018. I have since been a member of the CARPE college access network, a mentor to an induction teacher and a cooperating teacher for a student teacher. One of my favorite things about working at HTH is taking students backpacking!
I am passionate about Math, Art, Social Justice and the great outdoors. This year I am pursuing a master’s degree in Educational Leadership with the HTH Graduate School of Education.
When I’m not teaching or studying you can find me hiking or camping in the most remote locations of San Diego, or off on a road trip across the country.
