Hello! My name is McKenna Cornelius, and I am an Education Specialist. I am so excited to work with your students and your families again this year! My role is to support all students, but especially those with IEPs and 504 Plans, and to help co-teach with our amazing 12th grade team of teachers. It is my hope to work with our excellent 12th grade teaching team to design and implement educational strategies that will help your child to become the best student and person they can be. Additionally, it is my hope to greatly assist your student with college applications, the FAFSA, securing a job or trade-school program after school, etc.
If we have not yet been introduced, I’d like to take this opportunity to share a little bit about myself. I graduated from Point Loma Nazarene University in 2016 with a joint degree in Biology and Chemistry and have completed High Tech High’s Masters Program. I now hold my M.Ed. in Teaching and Learning, as well as my credentials in Mild-Moderate Special Education, Biology, and Chemistry. I began working at HTHI during the 2017-2018 school year as an academic coach and quickly fell in love with project-based learning and the inclusive culture of our organization. I have worked with the 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grades, and this will be my second time working with the 12th grade team. When I am not at school, I can most likely be found at the rock-climbing gym, reading, long-distance running, or planning my next international travel adventure with my wonderful husband. Additionally, my husband and I will be welcoming our first child, a baby boy, in mid-November! I am very excited to be returning back to High Tech High International for my 7th year of teaching.
