HTHM Athletics

HTHM Athletics welcomes you to the village.

We hope that you will participate in one or more of our sport offerings during the school year.  Students must maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher to participate.

How do I sign up for HTHM Athletics?

In order to participate in athletics at High Tech High Mesa, it is required that each student complete and return
the following forms with proper signatures.

Download the Athletic Participation Packet (contains the following documents)

  1. Commitment form (Parent and Student Signature)
  2. Teacher acknowledgment form (Teacher and Dean Signature)
  3. Medical release (Parent and Medical Doctor Signature)
  4. Ethics in sports (Parent and Student Signature)
  5. Student waiver form (Parent and Student Signature)
  6. Concussion Information Sheet (Parent and Student Signature)

The above forms must be completed and returned to the Athletic Director or the student will be suspended from
further practices and contests until the documentation is received.

A set of completed forms will be kept on file in the Athletics Director’s office and will be valid for the
2018-2019 school year.

Athletes who play more than one sport in any one season must circle both participating sports on the
teacher acknowledgement form.

High Tech High schools strive to provide a safe, enjoyable and meaningful experience through participation in
our athletic program. We appreciate your time and effort in completing the forms and turning in the
documentation by the deadline date.

Will we compete in CIF this year?
No, we will not compete in CIF this year. We are applying to have our school approved to compete in CIF for the 2019-2020 school year.

How do I get cleared to play sports?
There is a certain High Tech High Mesa athletics packet that needs to be completed. Here is the link to it. Please complete this packet and get a sports physical by the first day of practice.

If we don’t have a certain sport, can I play for HTH Point Loma schools or for my neighborhood school?
No, students may not play for any of these schools. We do not have multi-school agreement with any schools through CIF. You may practice with the HTHSD teams but not compete with them.
We feel it is important to build our own culture around the sports that we have on our campus, which we will continue to build over the next four years. If we allowed every athlete to compete for other schools this year, then we will be missing out on creating our own athletics community at HTHMesa.
Surf, Archery, Flag football are the exceptions because they are not CIF sports. If you are interested in these sports, you may compete for HTHSD. Please contact the coach and e-mail me if you are interested in one of these sports.

If want to coach a team, where do I begin?
We would be so grateful if you could volunteer as a coach. All coaches have to be fingerprinted and cleared before they work with students.
Please contact the Athletic Director here if you are interested in coaching, make sure to indicate which sport.
