Tommy Nguyen is a first-generation Vietnamese-American who emigrated to the U.S. when he was three with his mother and grandmother. Growing up, he sought refuge in homerooms and after school programs where he built strong relationships with his teachers and school staff. They played a pivotal role in helping him succeed in school and life. To pay it forward, Tommy became involved in school programs as a tutor and mentor, starting in middle school to the time he graduated from UCSD. He is now part of the High Tech High family and is eager to continue to inspire and motivate students to achieve their full potential. Tommy is the IT Systems Manager at the Mesa campus and applies his experience as an IT support at UCSD Center for Research in Biological Systems to resolve technical issues for teachers and students. He has a B.S. degree in Computer Science from UCSD and 5 years of web development experience. During his free time, he enjoys spending time with his two dogs, family, and friends.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
