Hello! I am Samantha Mitten. I did not major in math in college, but I always knew it would be the subject I would grow up to teach. I loved math in high school, I took as many classes as I could. A trimester system allowed me to cram 6 years of math into my 4 years so I was able to go from algebra 1 to AP calculus by the time I was a senior. Math wasn’t always easy for me, but the struggle was always worthwhile. Learning is so valuable to me, I enjoy every minute of it. I am so excited that I get to give back my love for math and teaching to my students. I love making math fun. Project based learning is so important to implement in math as it makes it more relevant and realistic. I want my students to see a purpose in their work and PBL allows that to happen!
In my free time, I train jiu jitsu and garden. Life is all about balance, right? I am also working on a Master’s in Teaching and Learning from HTHGSE so I’m working along my students for a High Tech High degree, too!
