Hello HTeCV Families! My name is Chelsea Benson and I am a Cajun-girl from Southwest Louisiana-Laissez les bons temps rouler or Let the good times roll! In Louisiana we are all about food and family. I cook and love all Louisiana cuisine with Gumbo being my favorite! I fell in love with education during my three years teaching in Tacna, Peru–a city in the Atacama Desert bordering Chile. When I reflect on my time there I am reminded that true learning happens when we collaborate work together WITH children and families. As Dean of Students, I am committed to working with students to build and repair relationships and to thrive in their learning environment. I received a Bachelor of Arts from Spring Hill College in Mobile, AL and hold 3 teaching credentials: a Multiple Subject and BCLAD from SDSU and a Special Education teaching credential from HTH. I am also a certified Translator/Interpreter. I recently graduated from the HTH Graduate School Program and hold a Master’s in Educational Leadership. In my free time I enjoy dancing to Cumbia in my kitchen, growing and nurturing my faith and spending time with my husband and two babies, Amelie and Liam. This will be my 13th year in education and my 9th at HTeCV. I look forward to collaborating this year!
