I am Erick Medina (he/him/his), and I am the 9th-grade Spanish teacher at High Tech High North County. I’m excited to be joining the HTHNC family after working at High Tech Middle North County as an 8th-grade Humanities resident teacher and, before that, as a 6th-grade Academic Coach. As an alum of both HTMNC (Class of 2014) and HTHNC (Class of 2018), it feels good to be back and giving back to the community that gave me so much as a student.
I graduated from the University of California, Irvine, in 2022 with a BA in English and Drama. Afterward, I spent two years in the mountains of Julian, California, working as an Outdoor Educator with sixth-grade students from across San Diego County. In that role, I taught STEM-focused lessons and helped students build strong peer relationships. Afterwards, I returned to my alma mater, High Tech Middle North County, as an Academic Coach, where I worked alongside inspiring educators who reignited my passion for the classroom and confirmed my dream of becoming a teacher. Last year, I earned my teaching credential through the High Tech High Graduate School of Education, and I am now pursuing my Master’s in Teaching and Learning.
