My name is Grant Castillo and I am entering my 3rd year teaching Spanish at HTH. I was born and raised here in San Diego and attended the University of Hawaii at Manoa for my undergraduate degree in which I received a Bachelor’s of Arts in Spanish. Following my college graduation, I strived to kickstart my career in education. I have experience working in primary, secondary and charter schools.
Back in 2020, I received my single-subject teaching credential from the California State University at San Marcos. Since then, I have worked to improving my teaching practice by implementing HTH principles such as: equity, personalization, authentic work, and collaborative design. I look forward to continuing my career in education and learning more about project-based learning.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, especially at the beach. I love surfing whenever I get the chance to. Not only am I the Spanish teacher here, but also the high school surf team coach.
