As teachers, we want students to develop a toolkit for comprehending, engaging with, and scrutinizing texts. We also want them to develop a love for reading that they carry with them into adulthood. These two goals are intertwined, but in real life (and real classrooms), it can feel like “love of reading” suffocates under a heap of requirements and structures designed to teach reading skills. In this group, we will test and develop structures to help the love of reading and readings skills develop together symbiotically, rather than competing with each other.
