Hello friends! My name is Teddy Mackay and I have been given the greatest blessing of taking on the 12th Grade English teacher position at HTHM. I grew up just an hour north in San Juan Capistrano prior to my move south to attend the University of San Diego. Here, I earned my Bachelor’s in Marketing and a minor in English. Each summer I returned to work at a summer camp called Emerald Cove Day Camp. It was at this camp that I discovered a passion for working with youth.
Eventually, it was my time spent working at Emerald Cove which led to me to depart from my post-grad marketing job and pursue my passion for mentoring and shaping young people. I returned to school for my Masters in Teaching while working at a local coffee shop in Dana Point – shout out to Bear Coast! Three years later, I find myself here, sincerely stoked to welcome you all into my classroom. Oh, and a bit about me: I love to be active and outdoors; I’m always down to play a game; writing and quiet time are my passion and reading is getting there as well (it’s a journey, am I right?); you can always catch me at a favorite burger joint, coffee bar, or fish taco shop, or anywhere with some bonkers-good food (hit me up if you have any suggestions!); and best of all, my best friend (wife) works right down the hall!
