Ms. Perro is a Massachusetts native who grew up in the small town of Northbridge (outside of Worcester), and made her way to the city of Boston to attend Emerson College. It was at Emerson that she realized her greatest purpose in life: to make a positive impact on the world around her. She decided the best way she could do that was in the classroom. She began teaching in San Antonio, TX in 2011 through the Teach For America program. She gained multiple credentials in the areas of Math, ELA, and Special Education. Upon moving back to Boston in 2013, she explored careers in the business world and theater, but eventually realized she needed to get back to the world of education. She taught K-8 Visual Art at Brooke Charter School in East Boston and loved having the chance to bring her talent for drawing and painting to the classroom.
In 2018, Ms. Perro’s partner, Brenna, became a doctor and matched for her Emergency Medicine Residency at UCSD in California! They moved to San Diego together and fell in love with the city. Ms. Perro was absolutely thrilled to join the High Tech Middle North County team. Over the past four years as an 8th Grade Humanities Teacher, she’s had the opportunity to share her love for reading, writing, history, and the world around us with her students. She is often known to go above and beyond on costume days, and often breaks out into song and dance around campus. As she enters her ninth year teaching, she sees her classroom as her second home and feels lucky to be able to say that she is inspired by her students and colleagues every day!
Ms. Perro received her Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from the High Tech High Graduate School of Education (HTH GSE) in 2021. She enjoys putting her leadership skills to good use by coaching and mentoring other teachers in the Induction program and within the San Diego Teacher Residency Program. She also works as an Improvement Coach for the HTH GSE and is excited to help other teachers grow their practice.
In her free time, Ms. Perro loves to go to dance classes, hang out at the pool or beach, do yoga, go for runs, read lots of books, draw pictures of her friends and family, watch silly comedy, make up ridiculous songs and videos and put them on YouTube, sing “Total Eclipse of the Heart” at Karaoke, speak in an exaggerated Boston accent, make babies laugh, go to rallies and get involved in human rights causes, and find ways to be a strong female leader in the community. Stop by her classroom and say hello!
