For the past three years, I’ve had the joy of serving as Dean of Students at High Tech Elementary Explorer in Point Loma, watching our community grow and thrive. Before that, I spent a decade across the High Tech campus in Chula Vista, taking on roles as a classroom teacher, education specialist, and academic coach at both the High School and Elementary levels. Those experiences shaped my understanding that every student is a unique learner with their own strengths and areas for growth.
One belief that’s close to my heart is the importance of fostering a sense of community and inclusion among children. I find immense satisfaction in working within our Point Loma school community to ensure a cohesive and supportive environment. Our actions and words play a crucial role in letting students know they are valued, secure, and cared for. As the saying goes, “The way we talk to our children becomes their inner voice.” – Peggy O’Mara.
Originally from the East Coast, I made the move to California almost three decades ago. Outside of work, I love spending time on travel, family, and community. My son now attends High Tech Explorer, adding an extra layer of connection to this community I get to serve. We’re a family that loves nature and lives near Cowles Mountain, often embarking on outdoor adventures together.
The drive to work with students and families here in Point Loma isn’t just a job, it’s a genuine passion, and I’m grateful for the chance to keep helping our community flourish.
