For the past ten years, I’ve been fortunate to be a part of the High Tech campus in Chula Vista, where I’ve taken on various roles. I’ve been a classroom teacher, an education specialist, and an academic coach at both the High School and Elementary school levels. Through these experiences, I’ve come to understand that every student is a unique learner with their own strengths and areas for growth.
One belief that’s close to my heart is the importance of fostering a sense of community and inclusion among children. I find immense satisfaction in working within school communities to ensure a cohesive and supportive environment. Our actions and words play a crucial role in letting students know they are valued, secure, and cared for. As the saying goes, “”The way we talk to our children becomes their inner voice.”” – Peggy Omara.
Originally from the East Coast, I made the move to California two decades ago. When I’m not engaged in educational pursuits, I enjoy traveling and exploring new places with my family. My seven-year-old son will soon be joining High Tech Explorer, adding an extra layer of connection to the school. We’re a family that loves nature and lives near Cowles Mountain, often embarking on outdoor adventures.
Aside from family time, I’ve found enjoyment in distance running, particularly half marathons. My goal is to eventually conquer a full marathon. The drive to work with students and their families isn’t just a job; it’s a genuine passion. As I begin this new chapter in Point Loma, I’m excited to contribute to the community and help create an enriching environment where each student can truly flourish.
