My name is Luis Reyes, a San Diego native and Spanish-speaking educator of Mexican descent. With six years of experience in education, I am committed to student growth, equity, and culturally responsive teaching. My philosophy centers on meeting each child’s individual needs while encouraging creativity, self-expression, and academic excellence through differentiated instruction. I believe in fostering inclusive classrooms grounded in PBIS, social-emotional learning, and equity—not equality. I encourage students to embrace their identities and cultures, and I strive to create learning environments built on respect, accountability, and community. I am passionate about helping every student reach their full potential through support, encouragement, and a deep belief in their capabilities.
I earned my bachelor’s degree from San Diego State University, majoring in Sociology with a minor in Counseling and Social Change. I continued my academic journey at SDSU with graduate coursework in Sociology, focusing on social systems and equity. I completed my Multiple Subjects Credential through the High Tech High Intern Credentialing Program and am currently working toward my Education Specialist Credential through the same program. My work blends research-based strategies with inclusive practices to support diverse learners in both general and special education settings.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my partner and doing the things we love. I have a passion for music, writing, and playing or watching sports. I am proud SDFC fans! I also enjoy reading, watching movies, exploring comics, and playing board games. One of my favorite ways to spend time is visiting theme parks and experiencing new rides and attractions with my partner. I have a 17-month-old pup named Caramel whom I like to take on walks and play fetch with.
