Robotics Teams Take Byte of World Competition
Two High Tech High robotics teams were part of an alliance that won a FIRST Robotics regional competition and went on to compete at the recent international FIRST Championship in Houston. More than 18,000 students from 59 countries competed with team-built robots and showcased innovation skills at the event.

An Impact That Lasts
For almost a decade, the California Innocence Project has had an ongoing collaboration with High Tech High. Since this collaboration began, juniors at HTH have taken on cases provided by the CIP. HTH student Jack Brooks details how this collaboration has impacted students and staff alike.

Agreement Reached Between Teacher’s Union and HTH
We are excited to announce that HTH has reached a tentative contract agreement with our union partners on our first collective bargaining agreement (CBA or “contract”). The tentative contract goes to ratification by the respective parties in order to take effect.

Bargaining Update for Oct. 28, 2022
The strategic priority areas presented by HTEC Leadership Team have been largely met. However, we currently have not been able to agree on two important items. As a result, this may mean that the two parties (HTEC & HTH) might require the additional support of a mediator, a step generally called impasse, in which all previously agreed upon items are up for renegotiation. This is a normal part of the negotiation process.

Special Board Update re Bargaining
We are hopeful that the union will provide HTH with a package of proposals on November 1 that will enable us to reach a resolution on a collective bargaining agreement. However, should the union pass a proposal that does not include HTH’s priorities (see blog post), we may need to seek the assistance of a state mediator.

HTH and Teachers Move Another Step Closer to Reaching a Complete Collective Bargaining Agreement
Although a completed Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) was not reached, HTH is pleased to report that both HTH and HTEC met on June 29, 2022, and passed a substantial package that includes almost every contract item. We’re making significant progress on a range of items.

HTH Bargaining Update for June
The respective collective bargaining teams for High Tech High (HTH) and High Tech Education Collective (HTEC) met on June 10, 2022, for a full day of bargaining. Although a full Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) was not reached, HTH is pleased to report that we passed substantial proposals that are sustainable, competitive, and equitable.

HTHCV Seniors are Resilient, Tenacious and College Bound
Malia Ferrer, Claudia Ramirez, and Alejandro Villalvazo, respectively, are three of the 129 seniors in High Tech High Chula Vista’s Class of 2022. It is a noteworthy class, as 121 students submitted 689 applications to 87 colleges. Learn more about Malia, Claudia, and Alejandro here.

HTH Bargaining Update for May
HTH is pleased to report that we passed a significant package that includes a revised wages proposal. Starting in July, HTH teachers would receive on average a 10.33% salary increase, reflecting our commitment to compensating our teachers in a sustainable, competitive, and equitable manner.

Ten HTHNC freshmen were selected for the San Diego County Fair Student Showcase, which is the competitive exhibit where teachers in middle schools, high schools, and community colleges enter their students’ work.

High Tech High Mesa’s first graduating class sets bar high for college enrollment
Nearly all of HTHM’s 91 seniors will attend college next year. Parents call the college advising support that their students received at HTHM ‘crucial’ to achieving their college and career goals.

They came from nearly every corner of the county. The Leadership Summit for HTH parent leaders was held in-person on March 16, and was the first such interaction among parents from throughout our system since the pandemic.
