Hello families and visitors! My name is Rizelle Murallon(she/her), and I am so excited to continue my work with the High Tech High organization, as a founding first grade teacher at HTeM. You can call me Ms. Rizelle! My goals are to create safe and welcoming spaces where we can be our authentic selves, collaborate, and build a positive community. In these spaces, we will grow together as learners, teach one another, play with safety and kindness in mind, and discover our own natural curiosities and questions.
A little bit about myself: I grew up both in the Bay Area and in Sacramento, but always had a love for San Diego’s beautiful weather and beaches. School and education have always been my passion. I studied Child Development and Liberal Studies (Emphasis on Elementary Education) at SDSU, and received my California Teaching Credential and Masters of Arts in Teaching degree from PLNU, studying positive culture with restorative practices in an elementary school setting. I am still a passionate and dedicated learner, setting an intention to grow as an anti-racist, anti-bias, inclusive educator and ally, learning more with and from my students every day. I have worked with the HTH organization as an academic coach, student teacher, and substitute teacher at the HTePL and HTeCV campuses since 2017, and have been a founding teacher at HTeM since its opening in 2019.
Outside of the classroom, a few of my favorite things to do are: eating really good food (sushi is my favorite!), and I especially love being outdoors, it means I can spend some quality time in the sun with my husband Jimmy and our Olde English Bulldog Blu(berry) and French Bulldog Potato! I look forward to learning and growing with you!
