Elyce Jenkins is a San Diego native and has been with High Tech High since 2018. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Master of Arts in Teaching from San Diego State University. As a Humanities and Ethnic Studies teacher, Elyce is passionate about helping students make sense of the world around them and discover that they have the power to shape it. She believes deeply in the potential of project-based learning to make education meaningful, relevant, and connected to the world beyond the classroom. She has taken on leadership roles in PBL, curriculum design, and teacher development and is a Harvard Opportunity Insights Educator Fellow, exploring how research and data can deepen students’ understanding of the forces that shape opportunity. Before becoming an educator, Elyce served for six years in the Marine Corps Reserves. In her free time, Elyce loves exploring the world with her toddler and seeing familiar places through her eyes. It is a pretty good reminder that there is still plenty of wonder in the things we adults have learned to take for granted.
