Ben is a lifelong learner and passionate educator. Ben grew up in San Diego and went to college at San Diego State with the intention of working in advertising. He moved to Chicago after graduating SDSU to work in advertising, but after a few years found that was ultimately not going to be his path. After moving back to San Diego, Ben substitute taught and worked as an in-house tutor at Grossmont High School’s AVID program, helping kids achieve higher levels of success in their classes. Ben moved to San Francisco to get his teaching credential from SF State, and ended up teaching middle school math and science there for a few years. After finding out about HTH and the Project Based Learning approach to education, Ben was sold, and ultimately ended up teaching math and science at High Tech Middle. Ben also is passionate about music and audio engineering, and transitioned to creating a school program at the middle school integrating music and audio engineering. Ben now works as an instructional coach and is passionate about helping teachers carve their own path, teach to their passions, and live life to their fullest in the incredibly challenging and rewarding field of teaching.
