I’m originally from Orange County and have called San Diego home since 2007. I earned my undergraduate degree from the University of the Pacific and spent 15 years in biotechnology before beginning my career in education. I’m currently completing my master’s degree in education through the High Tech High Graduate School of Education. I began teaching as a substitute teacher with San Diego Unified and have spent the past few years at High Tech Middle Mesa and High Tech Elementary Mesa. I’m excited to now be part of the High Tech Elementary Explorer family as a fifth grade teacher.
I believe students learn best when they feel safe, known, and challenged. I love creating classroom families where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, collaborating, and figuring things out together. I’m especially drawn to project-based learning because it gives students opportunities to connect what they learn in school to the world around them and see that their ideas and contributions matter.
Outside of school, I love spending time with my family, traveling, being outdoors, fishing, and pretty much anything that involves the ocean.
