HTMMA
Once a visitor steps inside the building of HTMMA, the walls boast the projects that students have crafted.  These walls provide a small glimpse into the creative minds of the HTMMA student body.

HTMMA draws upon the diversity of the San Diego region through a random lottery acceptance system while still maintaining high performance standards for all students.  The goal of High Tech Middle Media Arts is to offer a technologically-rich, project-based learning evironment to 6-8 grade students that is both challenging and fun. We also aim to support students in their transition from elementary school to high school by educating the whole child, both academically and socially.

At HTMMA the teachers are designers of the project-based curriculum.  They focus on personalization to students' needs and fostering adult world connections with the outside community to make learning more relevant to the students.  Students are placed on teams each year with one Humanities teacher and one math/science teacher.  Additionally, the students take 2 semesters each of Art, Drama and Multimedia over their 3 years at HTMMA.  Students at HTMMA participate in a unique 2-week intensive course called Intersession as well.  This is a class where teachers rigorously pursue inquiry with students in a topic about which they are passionate.  Classes are varied and have included international trips, local trips, engineering and physics-based courses, theater productions, service learning projects, and more.
