This will be my 13th year teaching at High Tech High North County. I started back in the fall of 2010 as an Academic Coach, and finished the year as a 9th Grade Math/Physics Teacher. Since then, I have taught all grade levels and I am currently the 12th Grade Math 4/Calculus teacher.
My family originates from England and we emigrated to Canada when I was a pre-schooler. I’ve lived all over Canada, but I still call Calgary my “home town”. I did my undergraduate in Electrical Engineering at Carleton University in Ottawa, and then completed my Ph.D at the University of Waterloo, just outside Toronto. My research was in the performance of computer networks.
After working in Ottawa for a few years, I emigrated to the USA and worked in Atlanta for 13 years before moving to my current home in Leucadia, almost 16 years ago.
Here are somethings I love: Traveling (international travel rocks!), not traveling (e.g., laying on a beach), teaching (it’s my second career), working out (so I have the energy to travel and teach), new technology (I’m an almost-rehabilitated-gadget-freak), and DOGS!!!
Here are a few (possibly little-known) facts about me: I have four passports (American, Canadian, British, and Irish); I use the Oxford comma (see previous fact for an example); I have visited over 37 different countries; I can cook;I meditate;
I really do like Math!
