Hi! I’m Anjelica Schexnayder, and I teach 9th Grade Ethnic Studies. I’m originally from Oklahoma but have lived in San Diego most of my life—so I like to say I bring a little Southern warmth to the SoCal sunshine. I earned my Bachelor’s in Education and later completed my Master’s in Education along with my teaching credential.
I’ve had the opportunity to work in classrooms from preschool all the way through high school, including supporting students in mod/severe special education settings. I spent three years teaching middle school and loved helping students make meaningful connections—to the content, to each other, and to the world around them. I’m passionate about project-based learning, culturally responsive teaching, and creating a classroom culture that’s inclusive, collaborative, and a little bit joyful.
Outside the classroom, I coach cheer for both youth and middle school teams, plan creatively whenever I can, and geek out over documentaries and lesson design. I believe learning should be meaningful, community-driven, and just a little bit electric.
Fun fact: I’m a huge Disney fan—if I’m not in the classroom or at practice, there’s a good chance I’m planning my next Disneyland trip (or already in line for Space Mountain).
