Hello HTeCV! My name is Brittany Rysman (she/her/hers) and I am so excited to continue serving our community as the school psychologist for the 2022-2023 school year!
I was born and raised in Fort Wayne, IN (midwest girl at heart!) and moved to San Francisco, CA for graduate school to study School Psychology. After graduating with my Master’s Degree, I worked in the Bay Area for six years and served multiple elementary and middle schools. Having enough “cold” summers and longing to be in Southern California, I moved to San Diego in 2018 and began my career with High Tech High. This will be my 11th year as a school psychologist, 5th year at HTeCV, and first year as our district’s lead psychologist–what an honor!
I am passionate about ensuring all students have access to the same opportunities and that their sense of belonging is nourished. I want every student to feel seen, heard, and loved; this is my goal and commitment to our community. With that in mind, my focus in supporting our students is to discover and utilize their strengths to shape their learning experience. Every human has innate strengths and weaknesses; bringing awareness to this information helps to create more effective and appropriate teaching practices.
I am looking forward to discovering more student strengths; being a part of and witnessing all of the incredible and beautiful projects our students will create; and feeling the energy that they ALL bring to our community!
