Chenoa Pellytaay Musillo Aschoff is a new History teacher at HTHI with six years of teaching experience. They are currently pursuing a PhD in the Transforming Education in a Diverse Society program at the University of California, San Diego. Chenoa’s research centers on decolonizing education and enhancing anti-racist teaching practices. They have led trainings for educators and first responders on implicit bias, Indigenous curriculum, anti-racism, and support for LGBTQ+ students. Although born in San Diego, Chenoa has lived along the West Coast, attending K-12 school in Northern Los Angeles, college at UC Santa Cruz, graduate school at the University of Portland, and later moving to Tacoma, WA, before returning to San Diego to be closer to their father and family on nearby Kumeyaay reservations. Chenoa is passionate about tabletop games, enjoys spending time with their cats, and loves cooking for their family. They are enthusiastic about joining the HTHI team and engaging with the community.
