I was born and raised in Detroit, MI, where I began acting at the age of 8 years old. I attended the Detroit H.S. for the Performing Arts and received my BA in Communications and Theatre from Calvin College (now Calvin University). After graduating, I moved to Japan where I began teaching English as a Foreign Language. I lived in Japan almost 9 years before I moved to San Diego. I got a job as a Teaching Artist, and worked at the Old Globe Theatre and San Diego Junior Theatre until I decided to become a full-time classroom teacher. In 2019 I got my teaching credential in English Language Arts, and was the founding Theatre Arts teacher at HTH Mesa. After 3 years at Mesa, I returned to Japan for 4 years, teaching Theatre and Film at the American School in Japan. I am very happy to be back at Mesa where I am teaching Humanities! In my free time I love to travel, go to the beach, play the Koto (the traditional Japanese harp), and play PC games.
