Fernanda has nearly 10 years of experience in education, including eight years in special education. She grew up in Mexico and moved to San Diego at 18, an experience that shaped her understanding of what it feels like to start over and find your place. That perspective continues to guide her work with students and families.
She spent six years as an Education Specialist at High Tech Middle Media Arts, where she worked closely with students to create supportive, inclusive classrooms. Fernanda earned her bachelor’s degree in Linguistics and her master’s degree in Educational Counseling from San Diego State University. She also holds a Clear California Education Specialist Credential through the High Tech High Teacher Center.
Fernanda has also had the opportunity to teach in China and study in Italy and France. These experiences broadened her perspective and strengthened her commitment to meeting students where they are.
She cares deeply about helping each student feel seen, supported, and capable. Outside of work, she enjoys crime shows, reading, learning new languages, and traveling whenever she can.
