Hi! My name is Jake Anderson, and I am an 11th-grade teacher at Gary and Jerri-Ann Jacobs High Tech High in Point Loma. I’m originally from Temecula, CA, and I’ve lived in San Diego for the past six years. Before becoming a teacher, I earned a bachelor’s degree in history with a minor in professional writing from UC Santa Barbara. After graduating, I worked for Habitat for Humanity before moving to San Diego to earn a master’s degree in rhetoric and professional writing from San Diego State University. Following my time at SDSU, I worked in digital marketing before pivoting to teaching. I earned my single-subject teaching credential in social sciences and English through the University of San Diego. Coming into my third year as a teacher at High Tech High, I am eager to support our students in their social science learning journeys, empower young adults through civic engagement, and grow as an educator. In my free time, I enjoy camping, off-roading, motorcycling, mountain biking, golfing, running, weightlifting, listening to music, and exploring new experiences around San Diego.
