Michelle grew up in Santa Barbara, California and came to San Diego to attend UCSD. As an undergrad, Michelle worked as a photographer for the UCSD Guardian, and a writing mentor at the UCSD Writing Center. After graduating with a BA in Literature/Writing, Michelle joined the High Tech community as an Academic Coach at High Tech Middle Media Arts. It was during her year as an AC that Michelle realized she wanted to be teacher. In order to pursue teaching, Michelle decided to leave sunny California to attend Columbia Teachers College in New York City where she earned a MA in English Education and her teaching credential. After a year of hard work and a winter of snowy commutes, Michelle was thrilled to come back to the High Tech family as a 4th grade teacher at High Tech Elementary! Michelle was a founding faculty member at HTe in 2015. When she is not at school, Michelle enjoys traveling, reading, swimming in the ocean, camping, doing word puzzles, hiking and watching Jeopardy!
