Sierra was born and raised in East County, San Diego, and is now excited to explore all the wonderful places North County has to offer. In addition to being a proud San Diego local, she feels fortunate to also call the High Tech High community her “home.” Her journey with High Tech began in kindergarten at High Tech Elementary Explorer and continued through her graduation from High Tech High Media Arts.

This deep connection to the community inspired her to return as an academic coach at High Tech Middle Media Arts while completing her undergraduate studies at UC San Diego, where she earned a B.S. in Education Sciences and a B.A. in Psychology. It was during this time that Sierra discovered her passion for working with middle schoolers—particularly in STEM education. After graduating from UCSD, she went on to pursue her teaching credential and Master of Education at UC Santa Barbara. Now, she’s thrilled to return to High Tech—not as a student or coach, but as a teacher ready to give back to the community that helped shape her.

Outside the classroom, Sierra enjoys exploring new artistic hobbies, reading thrillers, road-tripping (especially when camping is involved), running, spending time with friends and family, indulging her sweet tooth, trying new restaurants, and rewatching her favorite TV shows. She is so excited to be part of your wonderful community and looks forward to the year ahead!
