Hi, my name is Jocelyn, and literally from birth (I’m a twin), I have been so lucky to find myself on some of the best teams of all time. Case in point- I’ve joined this brilliant Team here at HTMNC to support our world-changing Learners!
I am most passionate about bringing people together, bridging gaps, breaking down societal barriers to promote access, and collaboratively advancing equity, inclusion, and social justice within communities. I started in special education, then joined the Peace Corps and taught at a School for the Deaf in Kenya. When I returned, I transitioned to social work and have been so fortunate to work with, and provide culturally-sensitive, client-centered, trauma-informed counseling; crisis intervention; advocacy; psycho-education; case management and support to people of all ages, and cultural, ethnic, LGBTQIA+, socioeconomic, academic and disability backgrounds. I am so excited to join this incredible team and to bring my superpower- helping others realize their own superpowers- back into the classroom.
When I’m not working, I can be found doing whatever my son is into (currently ocean swimming, books, karate, science, and video games). I also love hanging out with all members of my big family and friends, traveling, running, reading, building stuff out of recycled wood (so far, only outlandishly heavy tables and benches), team sports, gardening, cooking with whatever ingredients are on hand (think Chopped style, “your time starts…NOW!”), and trying to play the piano like Alicia Keys (never going to happen, but can’t stop me from trying!).
