Hello! I am so excited to be back at HTeX! I am an educator who is passionate about project-based learning and social emotional learning. I believe that we educators can create a learning environment that intrinsically motivates children to learn, care about each other, and become change-makers in our society. I have been an educator for over 20 years. I spent 17 of those years at Explorer as a teacher of grades K, 1, 4, and 5, and one year as a part-time ed specialist. In addition to teaching children, I have also designed and facilitated professional development workshops for teachers. I look forward to collaborating and supporting teachers at Explorer in my new role as an instructional coach.
I spent my childhood in the Philippines and grew up in the Bay Area. I moved to San Diego to go to school at UCSD. As an undergrad I studied Psychology, Visual Arts, and Education. I got my Masters in Education at UCSD as well. I decided to stay in San Diego because I love it here! I love the perfect weather and the beaches. While this is the best place to live, I LOVE to travel and explore other countries. Learning about other cultures is a passion of mine. I am also passionate about being a maker. I like to make all sorts of things like jewelry, art, embroidery, and building with wood, to name a few.
