Jose was born and raised in Mexico and moved to San Diego in 2018. He earned his Licenciatura en Educación, con especialidad en Español from Escuela Normal Fronteriza Tijuana, a degree in Education with a specialization in Spanish. He has been teaching Spanish for the past eight years, five years in Mexico and three years in the U.S. This is his first year at HTH, and he is very excited to join the community, learn alongside his students and colleagues, and make this a memorable school year!

Outside of the classroom, Jose enjoys spending time with his wife and child, especially exploring nature and enjoying the outdoors together. He has always loved sports, but Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu has a special place in his life. He is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt and also teaches Jiu-Jitsu in the afternoons. He looks forward to bringing his passion for learning, movement, and community into the HTH experience and getting to know everyone this year!
