Rose Reiken is so excited to continue teaching 7th grade at HTMM! Rose grew up in New York and moved to San Diego in 2021. She graduated from Barnard College of Columbia University, where she studied Sociology and Urban Teaching and received her teaching credential. In New York, Rose student-taught at the James Baldwin School, a transfer school in New York City for students who were underserved or harmed by traditional schooling. There, Rose discovered PBL as a way of teaching that helped her and her students be inclusive, creative, and innovative. She is passionate about creating projects that push students to think deeply about themselves, their community, and their world. Outside of school, Rose loves to hike, explore new places (she’s been to nearly 20 countries!), and bake. She also loves listening to audiobooks, so send your best recommendations her way!
