Dear High Tech High Families,
We are excited to share that High Tech High has reached a Tentative Agreement with the High Tech Education Collective regarding teacher compensation. On February 5, 2024, HTH met with the union to continue bargaining regarding wages for certificated staff, which includes teachers, psychologists, speech-language pathologists, long-term substitute teachers, and apprentices. Both parties agreed to a multi-year proposal for a 6% increase for the 2023-24 school year and a 1% increase for 2024-25. In addition, HTH proposed a 4% one-time off-schedule payment for 2023-24 in reflection of our deepest appreciation and gratitude for the work of our teachers.
These increases are on top of maintaining teachers’ annual step increases, which provide for an additional annual increase. In addition, HTH committed to covering the increased cost of benefits for the 2023-24 school year. Altogether, this package provides competitive salary and benefits–and stability for our educators, students, and families.Â
What’s Ahead
The Tentative Agreement will be formalized, signed by the respective representatives, and then go forward for ratification, which is the process of obtaining approval by the union’s membership and the HTH Board of Trustees, respectively. Once ratified, it will remain in effect through the term of the current collective bargaining agreement ending June 30, 2025.
Thank you for your continued support throughout this process.
Warm regards,
Board Chair Gary E. Jacobs
Interim Chief Executive Officer Dr. Diana Cornejo-Sanchez
